Welcome to Marwen (2018) - 116 minutes
Fast forward to the 29' of Welcome to Marwen (2018), and you will be met with jumping jack activity. Jumjax™ are used as an early morning exercise by one of the soldier dolls. The exercise is portrayed as a part of her morning routine just after jumping out of bed. They are a great exercise to get the blood pumping, and are definitely a great way to start the day. This is an exceptional portrayal of jumping jacks. In a way, it is the anti-thesis to the jumping jacks from the second episode of the second season of the tv show Corporate (2018 - ). In Corporate (2018 - ), they are used to stay awake late at night--another great portrayal, might I add. In Welcome to Marwen (2018), they are used to wake up in the morning. Maybe both are on to something... A special thanks to Joe for the original discovery. 9/10. Recommended.
Jumjax™ Database: New Additions
Three new titles have been added to the lists since the last update--one of which showcased jumping jacks.
- Films and Television Shows That Utilize Jumping Jacks
- Films and Television Shows That Do Not Utilize Jumping Jacks
The newly added titles are as follows:
Marwencol (2010) - 83 minutes
After watching the feature film based on the true story (and finding jumping jacks), I expected more from the documentary of the true story. Alas, while sort of interesting as part of a double feature, it just misses the mark. 1/10. Not recommended.
Us (2019) - 119 minutes
From the visionary mind of Jordan Peele comes Us (2019). Some ok performances in this "scary" movie, but I really think within the whole "tethering" world-building there was an opportunity for some really great jumping jacks hijinks. (And, really, just more hijinks in general. It would have been neat to see tethering take a more central role. And it would really have subverted expectations if the tethered underworlders could manipulate the tether in the other direction, as the movie implied the since defunct government program originally intended. Imagine someone is crossing a busy intersection and suddenly stops and starts doing jumping jacks! Traffic is bearing down! Ahh! Now that could be scary.) Also, at that Santa Cruz amusement park in 1986 I really think someone would have been doing jumping jacks. If Jordan was truly a visionary he would have recognized the opportunity he had at his disposal. 1/10. Not recommended.
The Lego Movie (2014) - 100 minutes
Added by: Bobody. Thank you Bobody. Jumping Jacks present in this one! FNB recommendation withheld until further internal analysis completed.
