remakes

there are a lot of remakes happening. one might say we are living in a culture of remakes. remember this thing? here it is again, but from a different perspective. here's a soft reboot of this. here's that but it's been 30 years in real life and in fictional life. some are quick to say that we are living in a creatively bankrupt moment in time (as we perceive it). I tend to disagree. taking a familiar story and telling it in our own unique way, with our own unique flair, has been happening for thousands of years. bards would roam from town to tavern to castle and back again weaving their own takes on familiar stories. humans are naturally storytellers, primarily. secondarily, humans are naturally self-referential, and want to frame things from their own perspectives--the ones they best understand.

what could be to blame? is it nostalgia? is it the yearly, cyclical cycle of sports seasons? is it the yearly, cyclical cycle of the seasons? is it the way we are taught thought logic? with its cause and effect concerns? is it the chase of creating something of great meaning?

I don't have the answer to that. I must admit I don't know, but I do know I want to remake the wizard of oz (1939). in my rendition, I play all of the characters. it's quite good. you could say it is my passion project.
