wrote a little jazz poem. as you read this, it might help to snap out an even beat with your fingers. for the cadence of this poem, your snapping should correspond with every spot indicated by a "/".
lucky, indescribably
/ / / /
/summer /time.
you /stand out/side.
you /drink lemo/nade and
you /lean on a /spade.
a /bead of /sweat
falls /off your /brow.
just /missing your /glass and
/falling on the /grass.
/look left,
/look right.

silence.
(brief pause)
/nothing /happens.
/no one /noticed.
/next time you /might not /be so
(brief pause)
indescribably lucky.
below I've included a version without the cadence notations:
lucky, indescribably
summer time.
you stand outside.
you drink lemonade and
you lean on a spade.
a bead of sweat
falls off your brow.
just missing your glass and
falling on the grass.
look left,
look right.
panic.
manic.
frantic.
silence.
nothing happens.
no one noticed.
next time you might not be so
indescribably lucky.
