if I could add to this thought, I would say: to add to what marvin gaye said, look around you. see that? in a way, that is art. even that is art. and that is, yes, also art. it's what is on the inside that matters most; what is underneath. and for you, for me, for that--it's art. if we could take a step back and look--I mean really look--we would gain insight 3 or even 4 steps forward.
maybe in the future someone will quote what I said as well on april 2. it would probably look something like this if it happens:

Awesome. Sometimes as an artist, I worry that my art distracts people from seeing all of the art around them.
ReplyDeletethat's such a wild observation, and I imagine a very humbling one. wow! for what it's worth, I don't think you have to worry about your art distracting people from other art. for one thing, it's the art that counts, and both your art and other art is... art! for another thing, your art is very good. my favorite movies out of movies I've recently seen are annihilation (2018) and black swan (2010).
